Art and Technology FA 2018

Empire of the Sun is probably one of my favorite artists. They music they make is so different and elevated. Empire of the Sun is definitely rooted from Electronic music from the past. Like Daft Punk, they use all sorts of different sounds that makes their music super original but they also centralize the singing in the song. Their song "Before" is the perfect depiction of their cover album because they some sounds that makes it sound like your in a jungle scenery. Which is exactly what Electronica is, they take different sounds and turn it into music. technology plays a huge part to perfect those sounds from nature and put all the pieces together. There is also a small piece of disco in their music as in some songs it's a bit soulful as disco is. A touch of techno and psychedelia. They use a lot of techno but their techno is used to make sound sort of psychedelic and trippy to simulate as if you were vibing within the song. I really suggest everyone listen to

If the world was simulation, then that means someone who is super intelligent, and artist has figured it all out. That is very crazy though, especially with all of the theories out there about this specific matter. Reality is a peculiar thing because some things just don’t seem real. But some theories make it seem so believable. But if the world was a simulation then maybe our technology will only get better! Although what’s trippy is who created this simulation? Also, it could be possible because artificial intelligence, so we could all be artificially intelligent. Also, history tends to repeat itself, so that means there are a lot of patterns which doesn’t seem natural. Another thing is that there is a lot of talk of the world ending as if there was a computed expiration date. Which doesn’t make sense if we were supposed be here naturally. So maybe the world is a simulation, unfortunately I don’t think we will ever get a conformation on that theory

Art is a very broad subject. Art is found and can be created anywhere in many ways. Technology can most definitely contribute to the creation of art. Art is an expression of self and if someone can express themselves through technology, then that is most definitely a form of art. Animation is a form of art. When artists create an animated movie, a lot of creativity goes into that because the making of scenery and characters require a lot of drawing and art in general. Not only that but these animated movies can very well convey an important message which can be thought through self-expression. Also, a lot of music these days are generated or finalized through technology and music is a form of art. Yes, music ismade through instruments but, people can very much use technology to clean the music they produce. So, yes, you can create art with technology. 

Performance artists have a goal. The goal is to convey a message that will contradict or challenge the society in which we are living in today. I think the three performance arts that have stuck out to me the most might be from Yoko Ono, Maria Abramovic, and Michael Smith. Yoko Ono piece “Cut Piece” was of her sitting with pieces of clothing that her audience could then take off. I think this piece signifies something really important. To me it meant that women are constantly objectified because throughout the whole performance she is covering her breasts. Which is a really important message because it just goes to show how the genders see each other. Maria Abramovic’s piece “Minute of Silence” is of her sitting in front of a person in silence. This piece is a bit intricate because I think it means that it’s hard to have constant eye contact with people but that it’s important to because you can really feel a sense of emotion and I just don’t think people now a days take the

This is Mickey Mouse made from Skittles candy. What I did was I used grid paper to formulate a template for me to be able to form the Mickey outline. It was a sticky and colorful process and it was a lot of fun. Working in rows and columns is an interesting form of art. 

Making the flip book was a challenging experience. Getting all the pictures to flow smoothly was really hard and drawing the same thing over and over again was also really hard. This book is about an astronaut that fixes his rocket but then launches without him and ends up on a different planet. The astronaut then rescues his rocket but then gets into a fight which later leads to his rocket being destroyed. No happy ending here!
